Youth Freshwater Ecology School

Sunday, 19 August 2018 & Monday, 20 August 2018.

Young scientists, graduate and undergradute students, and high school students who are interested in taking the Youth Freshwater Ecology School lessons must send the completed registration form to the Organizing Committee. The first 30 early-bird registrants will take lessons given by invited ecological specialists and professionals. The tentative lessons include:

 

     *       Ephemeroptera, Plecoptera & Trichoptera (EPT) Taxonomy

  (by Professor John Morse, Clemson University)

  *      Stream and River Restoration

      (by Yixin Zhang, Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University)

  *     Scientific Communication & Writing

  (by Professor Charles Hawkins, Utah State University)

  *     Field Training for Stream & River Quantitative Physical Habitat Data Collection

(by Professor Bob Hughes, Amnis Opes Institute & Oregon State University)

Note: Regarding field physical habitat data collection training, 30-45 minutes hiking is needed to reach streams in the Purple Mountain. Students should be prepared to work in the streams by bringing clipboards & pencils (not pens), waders & rain gear, or a change of clothing and footwear.
